Areas of Competition
The Areas of Competition for the MBIA pageant encompass six distinct categories, each designed to evaluate various aspects of contestants’ skills, poise, and dedication:
AOC Cohort and Pitch Competition (20 points)
Contestants engage in a five-month program where they develop a platform or program to drive sustainable change. This involves monthly training sessions, mentorship from corporate professionals, and guidance from a Chief Learning Officer. The process culminates in a final live presentation judged on the contestant’s creativity and impact. The winner of this cohort receives a monetary prize.
Panel Interview (20 points)
Contestants participate in a five-minute question-and-answer session with judges, covering topics such as their platform, community involvement, and general pageant questions. This segment evaluates poise, clarity, and depth of understanding.
Active Wear (20 points)
Focused on promoting a healthy and vibrant lifestyle, this category celebrates individuality and confidence in fitness. Contestants are judged on their ability to embody wellness through various checkpoints throughout the competition, including stage presentations during preliminaries.
Evening Gown (25 points)
This category emphasizes elegance and grace. Evening gowns must be floor-length and styled tastefully, avoiding overly revealing designs. Contestants are judged on overall appearance, poise, and their ability to carry themselves with confidence.
National/Country Costume (15 points)
Contestants showcase an outfit representing the culture and heritage of their state, region, or country. Judging criteria include creativity, confidence, and the ability to present the costume in a tasteful and culturally significant manner.
On Stage Q&A (20 points)
Held on the final night, this category features two rounds: an initial round of questions on current events and a final round for top finalists, where contestants deliver a final statement. This segment tests the contestants' ability to think quickly, communicate effectively, and articulate their thoughts under pressure. Each area of competition is tailored to highlight various dimensions of the contestant's character, confidence, and commitment to personal and community growth.
